Acronis’ biannual report Acronis Cyberthreats Report H1 2024 has found email attacks surging 293%, with new ransomware groups emerging.
According to the report, which draws on data from over one million unique Windows endpoints across 15 countries, other top cybersecurity trends in the first half of 2024 include:
- Ransomware rise: A 32% increase in ransomware detections from Q4 2023 to Q1 2024, with 10 new ransomware groups responsible for 84 attacks globally.
- Targeted sectors: SMBs, especially in critical sectors like government and healthcare, are prime targets.
- AI in cybercrime: Increasing use of generative AI and large language models in social engineering and automation attacks.
