Application security in the DevOps environment
The consequences of attacks against unsecured applications are costly.
Ponemon Institute recently surveyed 626 individuals in IT security, quality assurance or development. All respondents work in organizations that use a DevOps approach that includes application security testing.
The purpose of the Application Security in the DevOps Environment study, sponsored by HCL Software, is to better understand the state of organizations’ ability to quickly prioritize and repair vulnerabilities in their applications.
According to the research findings, 84% of participants rate the threat from insecure applications as significant.
The consequences of attacks against unsecured applications are costly, and increase the likelihood of data breaches that involve customer and employee information. As organizations struggle to address these threats, they estimate the total economic loss they have incurred in the past 12 months as a result of attacks against vulnerable applications averaged $12 million.
